Energy Cycle Review

1 Min Read

Energy Cycle is a small, but relatively fun game made by the team over at Sometimes You. The objective is to match the colours of all the power balls on the screen. It’s hard not to believe that the true objective behind the game is an easy platinum though. This is further strengthened by the fact that you can completely bypass the hardest trophies in the game (10, 20 and 30 levels completed in Time Trials and 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 levels completed in infinite mode) by simply completing the first level and continuously tapping X to skip through the levels in seconds. As for the main mode, if you enjoy the puzzle aspect of the game you can take your time completing the 28 levels the game offers, or you can look up a handy guide from PlayStation Trophieswhich will see you fly through the final section in about 10-15 minutes.

As a man who enjoys getting a few trophies this is not a bad thing, and it has in fact enticed me to pick the game up on the US and UK stores, meaning three platinum trophies when you throw in the Vita version. It’s hardly a game that will live long in the memory and it essentially has one idea that it uses throughout, but if you are looking for some short term fun of the puzzle variety and a few trophies along the way, there are worse ways to spend £3.

Craig started gaming at 4 years old on the NES and has been hooked ever since. Trophies and achievements have only made him fall deeper down the rabbit hole. Will play almost anything, although particularly partial to anything involving stealth and silenced pistols. Football game enthusiast. RIP PES.
