Celtic – European Elite Ep.6 | PES 2018

3 Min Read

Hot on the heels of episode five I’m back again. I had a few episodes recorded up my sleeve and I can’t do a live stream until I get the archived content up to date so I want to rattle through this episode so the path is clear.

First up we have game week 14 and a match against high flying Arsenal. Of all the English teams I did not expect them to be doing the best coming in to this game. They currently sit 4th in the league, 5pts behind me and 6pts off the top. They, like everyone else I seem to play these days are just off a draw with Bayern 🤨 A week between games has allowed me to once again field my strongest XI. Highlights below.

Ooft! What a win. I was expecting a really tough game but the team didn’t let Arsenal settle for a minute. It could have been way more than 2-0 before half time and in the end the 5-0 thrashing was completely justified. Cech actually had a pretty good game! Teixeira had a good game and when Karamoko Dembele came on he lit the place up with a great individual goal. Attacking midfield is looking like a strong position for us, unfortunately for Tom Rogic.

The second game today is the big one. A top of the table clash with Barcelona. I couldn’t be coming in to this game off a more impressive display while Barcelona (seriously) have drew with Bayern in their last game. I had a look at Bayern’s stats; 4 wins, 10 draws, 0 losses. Wow! 😲 I feel like I must have somehow glitched the game creating this Elite League. We will monitor the situation! Anyway, on to the big game.

I’d have been better off just talking about Bayern and their weird form. Barca, in the mother of all troll jobs not only signed worst ‘striker’ in the EPL Danny Welbeck, but gave him his “first start in a while” according to the commentators and he went on to assist one and score one in a 4-2 win for the Catalan club. The team didn’t wake up until they were 2-0 down and by then it was too late to salvage. I need to start games more like I did in the Arsenal outing.

Bayern also stepped it up a gear and won 3-0, ending their bizarre run of draws. They remain the only unbeaten team in the league, yet sit 5th, a full 8pts off the top.

Lastly today we have a match at the Westfalenstadion against Dortmund who come in to this game sitting a respectable 9th in the league but off the back of a 3-0 defeat to Bayern. I’m now starting to wonder if the fixtures work in such a way that I always play a team right after they do. A quick check appears so show that is the case. Not a bad deal for me as Bayern are giving everyone a tough game so far!

Strongest lineup out again and hoping to put pressure back on Barca after the disappointment of the last game. Below are the stats and highlights.

Not good enough. A mistake put me 1-0 down but the recovery was quick and to be fair it was an excellent glancing header from Poulsen, but a fly kick from Reus and a curler from Luard either side of the break put me 3-1 down. After hauling it back to 3-2 in the 62nd minute with an amazing pass from Forrest I thought I’d be able to rescue something but despite coming close multiple times it wasn’t to be.

That loss knocks me down to 3rd in the table behind the two Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid. Bayern also went and lost their first match of the season 4-1 at home to Chelsea. Next up is THREE battles of Britain in a row! Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs! 🤯

As I do three matches an episode and it has worked out perfectly with the matches against English teams I will do a live stream for episode 7 tonight (hopefully), Monday 28th May. If you don’t catch it live it will be archived on YouTube and here on the website for your viewing pleasure. We need to get back to winning ways and what better motivation!
