Free Tifa theme!

A new Final Fantasy VII Remake theme for the PS4 has released today, much to the delight of fans. You can download it for free at the link below. Alternatively go to Settings > Themes > Find In PlayStation Store and it will be at the top.

Tifa theme

Our Take: The theme itself is really nice. Relaxing music, some nice icons to replace the likes of capture gallery and Tifa herself pops out of the screen in front of the tiles similar to the Ellie Last of Us Part II theme released last year. Plus, who doesn’t want more Tifa?

Last of Us Part II accessibility

In a great move it has been revealed that The Last of Us Part II will feature some of the most comprehensive accessibility options ever in a game. As well as the usual multiple difficulty options the game will feature slider options that will let you customise your experience.

Some of these sliders include how alert the enemies are, how much damage you can take and even gives you the ability to slow down the action so you have more time to prepare and line up your shots. Naughty Dog have also considered blind players and in turn have added in a bunch of audio triggers in a text-to-speech type format.

Players with eyesight difficulties can even enable a mode that makes enemies red, while allies are blue. When you enter the accessibility menu there is a message from Sony alerting you that they will be collecting data on how players use these settings. This will presumably be to refine such settings for future games.

Our Take: This is fantastic. Gaming should be for everyone and Naughty Dog have gone over and above to make sure as many people can enjoy this game as possible. Sliders are especially interesting to me because it allows you to customise the game to suit all aspects of your play style.

SEGA Announce Game Gear Micro

SEGA had been hyping up a big announcement for Thursday (in Japan) and it has now been revealed as the Game Gear Micro. Four of them to be exact. Each of the four micro devices will feature four classic games, so you will need to buy them all (at £40 a pop) to experience all sixteen games.

Our Take: This feels like a huge disappointment, but one that was inevitable. Rumours floating about that SEGA had cut exclusive deals with Microsoft or Sony, while others speculated that they were getting back into the console market. Instead we get a device with a screen so small it will be useless to most gamers. Then the crushing news that you need to buy four of them to get access to all sixteen classic games. Feels like a cash grab.

News is coming thick and fast just now so we will no doubt be back with another news bytes soon. Until then as always any big stories will be covered separately on the main page.
