Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time Leak
After the huge success of the N Sane Trilogy back in 2017, many fans have been wondering when a new game in the series may appear. Well earlier this week Activision started sending out a cryptic Crash puzzle to influencers, which is similar to how they handled the announcement of both the Spyro Reignited Trilogy and the Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled game in the past.
Thanks to a Taiwanese age rating listing we have some info on the game, including the fact that it appears to be a cross-gen title. There is some box art which is shown below and we also got a description that states; “Crash is relaxing and exploring his island in his time, 1998, when he finds a mysterious mask hidden away in a cave, Lani-Loli. The mask is one of the Quantum Masks and apparently knows Aku-Aku, Crash’s mask friend! With the Quantum Masks returning and a Quantum Rift appearing near our heroes, they decide to bravely head through to different times and dimensions to stop whoever is responsible.“
Our Take: It’s great to finally see confirmation of a new Crash Bandicoot game. The N Sane Trilogy was absolutely brilliant and so hopefully they have taken the same formula into this new adventure. I imagine after this leak we will see official confirmation pretty promptly.
Skate 4 Announced!
During last night’s EA Play Live event the publisher ended the show with the bombshell that Skate 4 is in-fact a reality. No trailer, assets or basically anything was shown – just confirmation that it is coming at some point.
Our Take: This feels like a reaction to the Tony Hawk news and with the recent surge in skateboarding games you have to wonder if this is even a wise move by EA. The game has to be at least three years out and so at that point the hunger for performing another virtual ollie could be all but gone.
Rocket Arena Announced by EA – Pricing Update
During EA Play Live, EA announced a new 3v3 shooter that looks like a cross between Fortnite and Overwatch. Better yet, it’s due for release on July 14th and will come in a seasons format. The trailer did actually show some promise and it looks like a game that could find an audience depending how well it plays.
One thing that wasn’t clear during the reveal though was price. It felt like they were announcing it as free to play, but that confirmation never came. After doing some digging it seems like it will come day one as part of EA Access and if you don’t have that service you will need to buy the game separately. The only actual price I could find was a Steam pre-order listing at £24.99 for the base game and £34.99 for the Mythic Edition.
Our Take: I actually liked the look of the game and I’m willing to check it out on launch day despite being almost exclusively a single player gamer. You do have to wonder if there is room in the market for this to survive though. There are so many options for gamers who like this kind of experience and are people really going to migrate over in large numbers? I guess we’ll see soon enough.
