Sony Announces The PlayStation Indies Initiative

Yesterday Shuhei Yoshida formally announced the PlayStation Indies initiative. Here he hopes to “Spotlight and support the best best indie games being published on PlayStation and the entire indie community as a whole”. Shu went on to praise the Indie selection at the PS5 event and convey excitement for the future.

As part of the initiative, Sony will be adding a new Indie title to PlayStation Now each month. This begins in July with Dynamic Pixels 2018 game Hello Neighbor, which you can find a trailer for below.

Throughout the day Sony also unveiled nine Indie titles coming to both PS4 and PS5 later this year. These titles were announced separately as the day went on and were helpfully bundled into a sizzle reel later on, which I have embedded for your viewing pleasure.

Our Take: The pick of the bunch for me was Worms Rumble, but I also really liked the look of Where The Heart Is and F.I.S.T : Forged In Shadow Torch as well. I’m happy to see Sony refocusing on Indie titles again as it is something they left behind as the PS4 really caught fire. Shuhei Yoshida is someone the community trusts and he is the perfect man to take the lead.

Craig started gaming at 4 years old on the NES and has been hooked ever since. Trophies and achievements have only made him fall deeper down the rabbit hole. Will play almost anything, although particularly partial to anything involving stealth and silenced pistols. Football game enthusiast. RIP PES.
