Mafia Delayed Until September

The upcoming Mafia Definitive Edition which is a remake of the original 2002 game has been delayed from August 28th to September 25th. The team had the following to say on their twitter account.

Our Take: If they need an extra month to iron out all the kinks that is totally fine with me. Mafia II released a few months ago in a bit of a mess and 2K will be keen to avoid a similar situation here. I never played the original Mafia game and this is currently one of my most anticipated games of the year.

PS Now July Additions Revealed

Sony have finally announced the games joining PlayStation Now for July 2020. There are five games in total and they are as follows; Watch Dogs 2, Street Fighter V, Hello Neighbor, The Turing Test and Infinite Minigolf. Watch Dogs 2 will remain on the service until October 5th, while the others have no current expiry date. Leaving the service yesterday was Insomniac’s Marvel Spider-Man.

Our Take: Watch Dogs 2 is a fantastic game that even today is highly underrated. If for any reason you slept on it initially now is the perfect time to dive in. Street Fighter V is also a great addition along with Hello Neighbor which is the first of Sony’s Indie Initiative games joining the platform.

Last Of Us Part II Could Have Been Open World

In a recent interview with IGN, Naughty Dog director Neil Druckmann explained that one of the initial ideas was to make the Last of Us Part II an open world game. Instead of one huge world the game would have been broken up into several smaller open areas like the one in Seattle.

This would have changed the narrative as Druckmann explained that you would have started the game as Abby and her crew before being saved by Joel and Tommy. You would then spend time in a more explorable Jackson before Abby would uncover her true intentions. The game would then lead on to Ellie in Seattle and so forth.

Our Take: I loved the open area in Seattle during the Last of Us Part II so this sounds like it could have been a really cool idea. It also sounds like had it been this way that the story may have played out in a more chronological fashion, which I know was an issue for some fans. Craig is still working on a think piece on the story which should be live on the site later this week. In the meantime Jock’s review can be found here.
