Gotham Knights Announced, Launching 2021

Finally, after what feels like about a decade, we have confirmation of the new Batman game. The twist? Batman isn’t in it. Bruce Wayne is apparently dead. Gotham Knights instead has you suiting up as Batgirl, Nightwing, Robin and Red Hood to fight the Court of Owls. The game can be experienced in single-player or via drop-in co-op. It has an RPG focus where you aim to level up all four characters.

Below are the first screenshots of the game as well as a seven-minute gameplay trailer, where developer Warner Bros Montreal show off the more beat ’em up style gameplay and RPG elements. The game is set to launch in 2021 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, S and One as well as PC.

Our Take: It’s hard not to be a little disappointed. Getting to play as four different characters is cool, but none of them is a replacement for Batman. Also while it is good to know you can play through the game by yourself it does feel from what we have seen so far that the emphasis is going to be on co-op. I worry that this game could suffer from having taken so long to develop as many gamers outlook on co-op campaigns is waning in 2021.

Craig started gaming at 4 years old on the NES and has been hooked ever since. Trophies and achievements have only made him fall deeper down the rabbit hole. Will play almost anything, although particularly partial to anything involving stealth and silenced pistols. Football game enthusiast. RIP PES.
