Xbox Series S Announced And Price Revealed

1 Min Read

Following a leak over at Windows Central, Microsoft has gone ahead and confirmed the existence of the Xbox Series S. They didn’t stop there though. Via a Twitter post that can be viewed below, they also announced the price ($299). The article also claims that both the Xbox Series S & X will be released on November 10th, 2020 – but that has yet to be confirmed. We await more information soon, as well as Sony’s response.

Update: We also now have an Xbox Series S advert leak! You can view it in full on my Twitter below;

Our Take: It’s great to FINALLY get some concrete next-gen news. Kudos to Microsoft! Even if their hand was kind of forced. I think the Xbox Series S looks visually stunning (I also really like the Series X design) and the price point is excellent, with payment plans reportedly an option too. My only worry is about the devices ability to play next-gen games.

The Windows Central article reiterated that it is roughly as powerful as an Xbox One X. The 1X will not play next-gen games and won’t even play future first-party titles like Forza, Hellblade 2 etc. My concern is that Microsoft may be planning on XCloud being the solution for next-gen gaming on the Series S. XCloud is a service I am very high on, but by all accounts needs more time in the oven.
