Acquire President Wants to Bring Tenchu Out of The Shadows

According to an interview with Famitsu as relayed by Gematsu, Acquire president Takuma Endo is interested in making a ground-up PlayStation 5 stealth ninja game. They currently own the “Stealth Assassin” trademark and while Endo admits it would be a difficult project to get off the ground he would like to make it a reality.

If the possibility arises, I would like to make a stealth ninja game from the ground up for the PS5 generation. To lay the groundwork for that, we acquired this trademark, which is the game’s subtitle overseas.

So it seems like a Tenchu return is still a ways off, but it is nice to know that it is in people’s mindset. The original Tenchu and the follow-up are two of my favourite PlayStation One games and along with Metal Gear Solid are what got me into stealth games. I played the demo for the first game more than I have played many full games. I really hope that down the line we see the dormant franchise return. Until now though, Ghost of Tsushima fills the gap admirably.

Craig started gaming at 4 years old on the NES and has been hooked ever since. Trophies and achievements have only made him fall deeper down the rabbit hole. Will play almost anything, although particularly partial to anything involving stealth and silenced pistols. Football game enthusiast. RIP PES.
