Top 5 PSVR games we need ported to PSVR 2

PSVR 2 is less than six weeks away! And while we have a good mix of new titles like Horizon Call of the Mountain and The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR, new VR modes for games like Resident Evil Village and Gran Turismo 7 and old favourites being ported day one like Pistol Whip and Moss – there are still some notable absences from the original PSVR library.

Today I want to take a look at the top five PSVR games that we NEED to see ported to Sony’s new headset. So in no particular order, let’s get started.

Developed by London Studio, Blood & Truth was initially envisioned to be a game set in The Getaway series. While it was definitely limited by the move controllers, it is an incredible VR experience that every gamer should check out. My hope is that it hasn’t been announced yet because there is a remastered version in the works with free movement, but that is almost certainly wishful thinking.

Astro Bot Rescue Mission is probably the most noticeable absence from the PSVR 2 launch lineup. Much like Blood & Truth it is a first-party game, but what makes it stand out even more is how beloved the wee bot is. Astro’s Playroom coming packed in with PS5 has catapulted Astro into the role of PlayStation mascot, and the only explanation I can think of for it not already being announced is that there is a sequel in development and they plan to re-launch Rescue Mission closer to the release of that.

This game doesn’t get talked about enough. Neither does LA Noire as a whole. The VR Case Files is one of the only proper open world ‘GTA style’ games on the market to date. The driving, shooting and traversal mechanics were admirable on the move controllers so I can only imagine how much more refined it would be on the new sense sticks. Investigating cases in VR and watching for suspects tells was also fascinating.

I literally had to check twice to make sure this hadn’t been announced yet. It’s hard to imagine it doesn’t see a PSVR 2 release, but until it’s announced we need to continue banging the drum for Superhot. One of the most fun experiences you can have with a headset on, and given it is already on the Meta Quest 2, I can’t see much tweaking needing done for the sense controllers.

Again, when researching the launch and announced lineups for glaring omissions, this is one that absolutely leapt off the screen. If you haven’t played this, you’re probably sitting thinking ‘calm yer tits, it’s only Tetris’. While that is true, it’s also so much more. When you get into the flow, the beat kicks in and the world starts reacting in tandem, it’s almost a hypnotic experience.

So there are five PSVR games that I feel need to be ported to Sony’s upcoming headset. Did I miss one that you are hoping makes the jump? My hope is that in time we see all of the worthwhile games on PSVR find a home on the new headgear.

Craig started gaming at 4 years old on the NES and has been hooked ever since. Trophies and achievements have only made him fall deeper down the rabbit hole. Will play almost anything, although particularly partial to anything involving stealth and silenced pistols. Football game enthusiast. RIP PES.
