Madden 21 Features and Release Date
The first trailer for Madden 21 dropped today, confirming a release date of August 28th, 2020. This means EA’s latest eggball sim will arrive alongside 2K’s Mafia Definitive Edition. Developer EA Tiburon promises improved ball-carrier mechanics and also said the title will have new on field camera shots and improved player awareness of their positioning and surroundings on the field.
The game is set to launch on PS4, Xbox One and for the second year running PC. Thanks to EA’s Dual Entitlement program both the PS4 and Xbox One version will be upgraded for free on next gen hardware. Madden 21 will be available in Deluxe and MVP editions and both will allow you access three days earlier on August 25th.
Our Take: The release date is a few weeks later than it has been in recent years. This is likely due to unforeseen circumstances surrounding COVID19. It will be interesting to see if we get later dates for NHL and FIFA as well. Madden is a solid title that I enjoy each year and I look forward to checking it out when it launches at the end of August.
Pistol Whip Release Date
PlayStation VR rhythm FPS Pistol Whip finally has a release date. The game will launch on July 28th, 2020 according to developer Cloudhead Games. For more info check their roadmap video below, which released earlier today.
Our Take: I love all things PSVR so I was in regardless, but the fact that this visually looks like SuperHot has me even more excited. Shooting to the rhythm of the beat is an awesome idea and if executed right this could be the next big VR title. Now we just need a release date for Vader Immortal.
Warner Bros Games Announcements… Finally
DC has announced DC Fandome, a virtual event to celebrate the brand that will take place on August 22nd. They also stated that during the event there will be new game announcements from WB Games. It’s unclear what will be shown at this stage, but you have to imagine that Rocksteady’s next title; which is rumoured to be in the DC universe, will be one of them. Arkham fans will also be crossing their fingers and toes for new Batman content, with a Court of Owls game heavily expected.
Our Take: The Batman Arkham games are some of my favourite from the last two generations so I am ALL IN on a new game in that universe. My only previous exposure to the Court of Owls is through the TV show Gotham and it seemed intriguing. As for Rocksteady’s game, there aren’t really any other DC properties that interest me, but with the pedigree they have coming off the Arkham games I am willing to try anything they put out next.
