Earlier this week it was confirmed by Konami that eFootball PES 2021 would be delivered in the form of a season update for the current PES 2020 game. This news was not received well by the community, and that displeasure was heightened even more with the news that the update would cost £24.99.

Well now, despite the release still being two months away (September 15th) the trophy list for the update has gone live on PSN Profiles. After taking a quick look, the trophy list is exactly the same as eFootball PES 2020. Same trophy names, requirements and aside from a change in colour, the same trophy tiles as well.

Our Take: Not releasing a full game on the 25th anniversary of the series was a body blow to longtime fans. Charging £25 for essentially roster and kit updates was also a bit of a slap in the face. But putting out the exact same trophy list just feels like a lack of care and attention.

I loved PES 17, 18 & 19 but ended up going back to FIFA as my go-to football game this year due to the lack of fluid gameplay in Konami’s sim. Unless this season update comes with some serious gameplay adjustments I am unlikely to stick with it much beyond the review.
