As a gaming dad, headphones have become a big part of my gaming setup. Whether it’s trying to hear the latest line of dialogue over the screams of Peppa Pig or attempting to keep the noise to a minimum in the small hours while still enjoying a great audio experience – picking a quality headset is really important.

DESIGN

I really like the unique square design of the headset and the way the ear pads can be turned sideways to lay flat when stored is really handy. The high-quality athletic mesh cushions really deliver on the promise of comfort. Buttons to control the device are located on the left side, with the volume control a longer button making it easy to find. When the headset is on there is also a nice line of blue light down each side.

CONNECTIVITY

Alongside the TX70 headset is a USB dongle and an AUX cable. Wireless mode is compatible with PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC. I was really impressed with how quick the setup was, especially on PC. The definition of plug & play. On Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch you simply connect via the AUX cable.

CHARGING

Provided in the box is a Micro-USB cable that fully charges the headset in around two hours. On a full charge, you should get roughly 15 hours worth of gaming. Do note that a plug socket is not provided, but in this day and age, that shouldn’t be an issue.

QUALITY

The noise-cancelling design provides clear audio with an optional bass boost. I have been really impressed with the audio quality throughout my testing. In this area, it holds its own against other headsets that will set you back more money. The flip-down mic is more than serviceable for chatting with friends during gaming sessions. It does however fall a little short of other models if you are looking to stream or record let’s plays.

An example of the mic quality. Scottish accent not included.

PRICE

The headset retails for £49.99, which makes it one of the cheapest wireless units on the market.
