New technology is awesome. Both the Dualsense and the slightly adapted next-gen Xbox controller look, feel and play great. Advancements in tech bring greater challenges for charging though. These days a charging station is a must to keep you in the game at all times, so with that in mind let’s take a closer look at the AC Ammo Clip.
DESIGN
I love the minimalist design of both the Xbox and PlayStation versions of the product. The hexagonal base doesn’t draw attention to itself and the USB-C cable provided neatly slots into the back of the base ready to be connected to your consoles USB slot. With both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X having USB slots on the back, I was able to completely hide the wire, which is a huge plus aesthetically.
Each version of the product is a dual charger, allowing you to charge up to two controllers at once. The top of the unit also has a button on each side to release the corresponding controller and is complemented by a blue (PlayStation) or a green (Xbox) strip of light which indicates whether the controller is currently being charged or not.
CHARGING
In the case of the PlayStation version, the ammo clip simply charges the internal battery on the Dualsense controller and the rest is on Sony. Expect to be using the clip frequently as PS5 users will know that if you get 5 hours of game time out of a charge, you’re doing well.
The Xbox version comes complete with two charge packs that house 600mAh long-lasting batteries. I found these to be of high build quality. Not only did they fit really snug in the controller, but they blended in well with the matt finish of the Series X controller. In terms of usage, you can expect a 10-15 hour battery life from a single charge in our testing, which is in line with competitors.
PRICE
These products are priced at £17.99 (PlayStation) and £19.99 (Xbox). Thanks to the added battery packs, the Xbox ammo clip gives you the best bang for your buck, but the PlayStation version is right in line with other models and very affordable.
